Hormonal Balancing Therapy

HOW DOES HORMONAL BALANCING THERAPY HELP?

Hormones are chemical substances and messengers that are involved in functions of growth, development of reproductive organs and general metabolic effects. A hormone can exert various effects in different tissues. For instance, estrogens with other hormones are involved in reproductive processes – promoting growth of ovarian follicles, altering the cervical secretions to favor survival & transport of sperm and promote development of endometrial lining in the event of pregnancy.

A wide variety of hormones, including growth hormones, thyroid hormone and the reproductive hormones are responsive to stressful situations.  Systems responsible for growth, reproduction and immunity are directly linked to the stress system and the hormonal effects of the stress response profoundly influence these systems.

The Hormonal Balancing Therapy
is a 90 minutes hands-on therapy, which includes   therapeutic massage and lymphatic drainage techniques with the use of specific combination of essential oils to restore hormonal balance to the body.  The blend of pure essential oils is customized to the unique needs of the client’s hormonal status and according to their menstrual cycle.

Recommended Sessions for the Hormonal Balancing Program:

Initial 1st and 2nd months – weekly sessions

Day 5, Day 12, Day 19 and Day 26 of menstrual cycle (28 days menstrual cycle)

Thereafter, treatments are scheduled every alternate week

Day 10 and Day 24 of menstrual cycle (28 days menstrual cycle)

*the above mentioned days of menstrual cycle also varies according to each  clients.

Hormonal Balancing Program
can help alleviate problems such as:

Irregular Menstrual Cycle

Menstrual Cramps

Premenstrual Syndrome

Menopause

Female Infertility

Irregular Menstrual Cycle

The average menstrual cycle lasts 28 days but may occur as often as every 24 days or 35 days.  Menstrual bleeding normally lasts between 2 and 7 days.  Variations in the length of the menstrual cycle are usually the result of hormonal imbalance.  Hormonal Imbalance may be the result of stress, depression, chronic illness, excessive exercise or anorexia nervosa.  Irregular menstruation may also be a symptom of polycystic ovary syndrome (imbalance of sex hormones) or endometriosis.

Hormonal Balancing Therapy is useful to restore the hormonal balance and bring back regular menstrual cycle in about 3 months.  (It varies individual cases.)

 Menstrual Cramps

Menstrual cramps may be caused by a chemical substance called prostaglandin, Prostaglandin promotes the contraction of the uterus pushing the uterus lining out during menstruation.  When prostaglandin levels are too high, the contractions of the uterus become excessive and hence menstrual cramps.  Menstrual cramps may also result from a narrow cervical canal, poor blood circulation in the pelvic region and heavy blood flow during menstruation.

Hormonal Balancing Therapy is a useful therapy to alleviate the menstrual cramps caused by poor blood circulation, heavy blood flow and excessive contraction of the uterus.  The usage of Petitgrain, Lavender & Clary Sage essential oils which have analgesics properties can ease he contraction of uterus and alleviate menstrual pain.  Orange & Cypress in a hot bath before the onset of menstruation can promote better blood circulation in the pelvic region.  Stretching & Yoga can aid in improving blood circulation.

 Premenstrual Syndrome

The premenstrual syndrome is characterized by physical & psychological symptoms occurring from 3 to 14 days before menstruation.   The symptoms of PMS include painful & swollen breasts, bloating, abdominal pain, headaches and backache.  There may be depression, anxiety, irritability and behavioral changes.

PMS is linked with endocrine imbalance such as estrogen excess and alteration in the estrogen-progesterone ratio.  Estrogens stimulate anxiety and nervous tension while increased progesterone levels may produce depression.  Other hypotheses suggest increased aldosterone may contribute to headache, bloating, breast tenderness, weight gain while pyrodoxine (Vit B6) deficiency may lead to estrogen excess or decreased production of dopamine & serotonin.  Decreased prostaglandin E1 levels can lead to abnormal sensitivity to prolactin which affects sodium & water retention.

Management of PMS is directed towards relief of pain, and an integrated program on regular exercise, avoidance of caffeine, a diet low in simple sugars and high in lean proteins, vitamin or mineral supplements (pyrixodine, Vit E & magnesium) and evening primrose oil (contain linoleic acid, a precursor or prostaglandin E1).

Hormonal Balancing Therapy, using right combination of essential oils and a relaxation technique is helpful in alleviating the physical and psychological symptoms of PMS.

Menopause

Menopause occurs between the ages of 45 and 55 and is characterized by menstrual irregularity, cessation of the menstrual cycle and other menopausal symptoms. Menopause results from the gradual cessation of ovarian function and diminished levels of estrogen & progesterone.  A woman’s ovaries stop responding to follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and produce less of the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone.

This permanent drop in hormone levels brings an end to ovulation and menstruation.  The hormone changes produce physical symptoms such as “hot flashes, palpitations, mood swings, dizziness and headaches as the blood vessels dilate.  Insomnia or frequent awakening because of “night sweats” (hot flashes and significant perspirations at night) lead to sleep deprivation and a woman may experience irritability, anxiety and depression as a result of these uncontrollable and unpredictable events.

The decline in estrogen levels also causes drying & wrinkling of the skin, vaginal dryness & discomfort during sexual intercourse due to thinning of the lining of the vagina and urinary tract infection due to thinning of the lining of the urethra.  Osteoporosis can also occur because of the long-term estrogen deprivation.

Today’s society tends to emphasize youthfulness, fitness and vigor.  Most of women may feel frustrated or depressed by the above mentioned problems. We women deserve to maintain our beauty and youth as long as possible.

Hormonal Balancing Therapy is helpful to boost the declining estrogen/progesterone levels to ease the above mentioned problems. The therapy also makes women feel young and beautiful, since it focuses on internal cleansing which bring external youth and beauty as well.

Female Infertility

Infertility is the inability to conceive a child after 1 year of unprotected intercourse.  Many factors contribute to infertility.

The increase in environment & workplace pollutions & toxins, radiation, alcohol and smoking may affect the production of sperms.  Women are at risk from hormonal factors as well as conditions like endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, gonorrhea, polycystic ovarian syndrome which cause difficulty in conceiving.

Ovulation is controlled by a complex interaction of hormones produced by the hypothalamus, pituitary and thyroid glands.  In Polycystic Ovary Syndrome an excess of LH and testosterone hormone prevents ovulation and reduce fertility while Hypothyroidism may cause a hormonal imbalance that affect the frequency of ovulation.

Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and Endometriosis may damaged the fallopian tubes and prevent the passage of an egg from the ovary to the uterus thus resulting in difficulty in conceiving.  In some women the mucus produced naturally by the cervix contains antibodies that destroy the partner’s sperm before they reach the egg.

Gonorrhea may damage the lining of the uterus making implantation of a fertilized egg not possible.  Hormonal problems may also result in the uterine lining not be adequately prepared for successful implantation.

Other than the cause being structural, essentials oils can help with conditions like endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome, pelvic inflammatory disease, chlamydia and adjusting the hormones and reducing stress.  Pure essential oils such as Clary Sage, Fennel, Cypress can help boost estrogen levels.  Estrogens are important to promote healthy eggs.  When a woman gets older, her estrogen levels drops and some extra help become necessary.  Progesterone is important to thicken the walls of the uterus for fetus implantation.

The use of specific pure essential oils with its highly concentrated and bio-chemical properties can aid in regulating women’s fertility cycles.  With a regular menstrual cycle & restored hormonal balance, and a stress relieving & relax body and mind, a woman’s chance of having children improves.

Anti-Ageing Therapy

HOW DOES ANTI-AGEING THERAPY HELP?

Anti-Ageing Therapy focuses on internal cleansing of the body and regenerate the cells by using Lymph Drainage techniques. It also combines with the art of essential oils to restore hormonal balance that is essential to maintain our youth and beauty.

The proper functioning of the lymphatic system is critical to our body’s ability to detoxify & regenerate tissues, filter toxins & foreign substances, recover crucial substances that have escaped from the blood and maintain a healthy immune system.

Lymph vessels rely upon hundred of tiny muscular units contracting throughout the body to propel the lymph. These contractions enable the lymph vessels to transport numerous substances to the lymph nodes, which can then process them.  The action of these muscular units can be hindered or stopped due to fatigue, stress, lack of physical activity, emotional shock, cold temperatures infections, age, chemical or food additives.  When the lymph circulation stagnates fluids, protein, cells and toxin accumulate and cellular functioning is significantly compromised.  This opens the way to many physical ailments and may hasten the aging process.

At Healing Gardens, we use Lymphatic Drainage Therapy developed by French physician, Bruno Chikly.  It
is a gentle hands-on technique designed to activate and cleanses the human fluid system.  The LDT process involves the use of subtle manual maneuvers to aid in the recirculation of the lymphatic flow; the pressure applied is generally around 5 grams.

In essence, Lymph Drainage Therapy works to activate fluid circulation and stimulate the functioning of the immune system and parasympathetic nervous system. Lymph Drainage Therapy can assist in the
